Success for Sharni and Hugo

Ballinger Equine's Practice Administrator Sharni Heaps with her pony Hugo, whippet puppy Snoopy and colleague Kate Harley at the PWPC One Day Eventer Trial at Bramfield. Sharni and Hugo won third place in their class.

Ballinger Equine Practice Administrator Sharni Heaps competed with her pony Hugo at Sunday’s Puckeridge Western Pony Club, Open One Day Eventer Trial in their first outing of the season. Supported by colleague Kate Harley and her new whippet puppy Snoopy, Sharni and Hugo pulled off a podium finish with third place in their class.

Last minute interruption to training as new saddle is delayed

Sharni was thrilled with Hugo’s performance. “It was our first show of the year and I am completely over the moon that we came 3rd out of 13 in our section”

“Hugo was absolutely brilliant, he is such a lovely pony. We only had a week to properly prepare as we have been without a saddle since the start of March. The new saddle finally arrived last Saturday and we have been very careful not to over-train in such a short timescale.”

“Special thanks to Kate who is an amazing groom and supporter. Kate is used to grooming at international events for top competition riders, so her knowledge and experience is invaluable – we make a fab team.”

Ballinger Equine – supporting grassroots equestrian sport

Ballinger Equine has for several years sponsored and supported equestrian sport at a number of venues and events throughout the region. Summer Championship Series, dressage competitions, sponsored ride-outs, Pony Club presentations, Point-to-Point racing, organised hacks, showjumping, showing and one-day-events have all benefited from Ballinger Equine’s sponsorship and veterinary medical support.

One-day events at Bramfield

Sue Underhill is a highly regarded riding instructor and operates an immaculate competition and training facility. Sue’s expertise means that courses can be designed for the beginner or turned into a series of technical challenges for the more experienced rider. The extensive grounds at Bramfield include showjumping facilities and plenty of parking for cars, horseboxes and trailers.

Ballinger Equine is looking forward to being back at Bramfield on 5 September as sponsor and event veterinary surgeons for a second one-day-event.
