RCVS Graduate Development Practice

Ballinger Equine is an RCVS Approved Graduate Development Practice

Ballinger Equine is proud to announce that it has been awarded RCVS Approved Graduate Development Practice status. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Veterinary Graduate Development Programme, VetGDP, provides an effective period of workplace-based support for all veterinary graduates as they begin their first role in practice.

Developing clinical and professional capabilities

Developed in consultation with the UK veterinary professions, the VetGDP recognises that while graduates are qualified vets, a period of structured support in the workplace can help their professional development, reduce anxiety and build lasting confidence.

Core to VetGDP are trained VetGDP Advisers, who work on a one-to-one basis with veterinary graduates to provide support in the workplace. Dr Susanna Ballinger MRCVS is Ballinger Equine’s Clinical Director and has trained as a VetGDP Adviser. At Ballinger Equine we supplement clinical training with non-clinical mentoring, guidance and support.

Practices or other workplaces wishing to employ veterinary graduates must become an RCVS Approved Graduate Development Practice, to ensure that graduates receive the developmental support required.

A track record of training for success

At Ballinger Equine we are proud of our track record of success in recruiting veterinary graduates and supporting their early years of practice as we train and mentor them into experienced, highly competent equine veterinary surgeons. By focusing on the development of their clinical and professional capabilities, the aim is for graduates to become resilient members of our clinical team and the wider veterinary profession.

A friendly, supportive, happy practice

Key to our success is recognising the importance of, and ensuring that our workplace is friendly, supportive and happy and is an environment in which newly qualified veterinary surgeons and indeed administrative staff can flourish and enjoy the challenges and rewards of providing Equine Veterinary Excellence 24/7, 365.
