Stevenage and District Riding Club Diamond Jubilee

Stevenage and District Riding Club Diamond Jubilee

Dr Susanna Ballinger MRCVS was honoured last night to give a talk on horse fitness and winter health care to a packed audience and to then present the annual awards at a very special diamond jubilee annual general meeting.

A thriving, active riding club for sixty years!

Last night’s annual general meeting of the Stevenage and District Riding Club (SDRC) was the sixtieth such gathering for its one hundred or so members. The club, formed in 1958 and an affiliated British Riding Club, has long been a focal point for equestrian events in Hertfordshire.

After a delicious fish-and-chip supper was enjoyed by all, Susanna talked about issues such as Mud Fever, winter exercising and Exertional Rhabdomyolysis, or Azoturia or tying up as it is sometimes more commonly known. Audience members joined in and discussion flowed with many interesting questions.

Susanna was thrilled to be invited to present the SDRC annual awards, trophies and prizes celebrating club competition success at local, area and national level. And it was a particular pleasure to see so many happy, enthusiastic younger riders.

Our thanks to SDRC Committee and members for a super evening on a very special occasion.

For further information on how to recognise and treat Mud Fever call the Ballinger Equine office on 01462 414008.

If your horse or pony shows the tell-tale signs of tying up, don’t hesitate – call your veterinary surgeon immediately.
