Katie and Buntino on the Podium

Ballinger Equine Ambassador, Katie Branley has launched her season with successive stellar performances. Having qualified in 2020 for the Winter Regional Championships in Medium Freestyle and the Area Festivals at Advanced Medium, Katie’s aims for 2021 include moving up to compete at Prix St George.

Ballinger Equine Ambassador competition report

Over the distinctly chilly May Bank Holiday weekend at Keysoe, which as everybody knows is breezy at the best of times, Bunny (Buntino) and I competed in the Advanced Medium at the Winter Area Festival.

In a very competitive class we pulled off a clean test and with 65.51% finished on the podium with a 3rd place. A creditable day’s work even if we did miss the top two qualifying places.

Off the back of a disrupted 12 months of competing and training we were a little rusty and had a couple of wobbles and this is a good result to build on for the rest of the year. I like to keep his work varied and he enjoyed a jump in the field at home the previous day, which I think helps to keep him feeling happy and fit for competition. Looking ahead we are crossing our fingers and hopeful he may receive a wild card for the Area Festival National Championships at the end of June. We will be looking at stepping back up to Advanced level and continuing to build our confidence at the higher levels.

As always good results are a team effort and I am very grateful to everyone who supports us including the team at home and the experienced Ballinger Equine team who keep Bunny in the best possible health to ensure peak performance.
