Home International for Katie Branley

Katie Branley, Ballinger Equine ambassador

Katie Branley, Ballinger Equine Ambassador and dressage rider is busy preparing with her horse Buntino for the British Dressage Senior Home International to be held at Wellington Riding on 18 to 20 October.

Buntino thrives on the big stage

Katie has owned Bunny (Buntino) since he was 4 years old and has produced him herself with help from trainers Doriel Watson, Mark Ruddock and Hayley Liddiard. Katie and Bunny presently compete at British Dressage Advanced Medium level and have been selected to represent England with a British Dressage Eastern Region team at the 2019 Senior Home International.

Katie and Bunny have a track record at the Home Internationals, previously being selected for the 2017 and 2018 Senior Home Internationals where they finished 8th at Elementary level and 10th at Medium level respectively. Earlier in 2019 the pair represented British Dressage Eastern Region at the Senior Inter-Regionals where they finished 8th at Medium level.

On her selection, Katie commented: “I feel very lucky to have been selected for the Home International again. It is a great event with a big atmosphere and there is no better feeling than riding down the centre line with a sea of supporters behind you. Bunny is experienced at the larger shows now and certainly seems to enjoy the big stage!”

Katie added: “We’ve spent this year building our experience at Advanced Medium, neither of us having competed at the level before our debut in 2018. We’re aiming for a solid performance at Wellington. Preparations have been going well and there’s just a couple more weeks of fine tuning to go.”

After the Home International, Katie and Bunny will continue training with the aim of moving up to Prix St Georges level in 2020.
